Apr 17, 2010 - It's fascinating to see this young genius, and also to see him now that he is considered old for the game.

May 11, 2010 - Fantastic video! Bravo!

LarryRickenbacker Says:

Jun 13, 2010 - The late GM Tony Miles felt that Karpov at his peak was stronger than Kasparov. Note that GM Miles had played both numerous times.

McGrainBoxing Says:

Jun 20, 2010 - @LarryRickenbacker Karpov may have been stronger, but I don't think he was stronger at the board. I think 1984 shows that at that time in their careers, Karpov was a better pure chess player, but not a better match player. Peak for peak, I would always pick Kasparov at the board.

McGrainBoxing Says:

Jun 20, 2010 - Also, Karpov always looked the more badass of the two. He looked like he was about to blow someone away at the chessboard. I think his style means he would have had a most excellent chance of beating Fischer. I think he spoke the same language as Fischer. One of perhaps only three up until that point (the other being Capablanca).

Jun 23, 2010 - Were Karpov and Kasparov close friends at any point? How much did their chess education overlap? Two fascinating individuals.

Jul 19, 2010 - This is wonderful. Could someone manage a rough interpretation post for those of us with only basic Russian? :)

Aug 26, 2010 - @WhiteAbenaki They were both Botvinik pupils. So, yes! They were not unknown to each other.
